[00:13.160 --> 00:20.360]  Omicron! Go ahead. Panic. I'll wait. A few days ago I released a presentation in
[00:20.360 --> 00:24.520]  which I discussed what we know and don't know about Omicron. In the few days since
[00:24.520 --> 00:28.080]  I released that, we haven't learned anything new that's meaningful.
[00:28.240 --> 00:33.680]  However, in that video I discussed that Omicron may well be a problem for people
[00:33.680 --> 00:38.960]  who have been vaccinated, but not for those who have not been vaccinated and
[00:38.960 --> 00:43.280]  have prior infection immunity. Today I'd like to expand on that a bit.

[01:03.000 --> 01:08.400]  science of why the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines do not activate production of memory

[01:12.720 --> 01:19.200]  explains clearly the stark distinction between the protection induced by the
[01:19.200 --> 01:24.720]  vaccines and the immunity created by prior infection. What you may want to do
[01:24.720 --> 01:30.120]  is watch this through to the end, then go watch that, and then come back and
[01:30.120 --> 01:34.160]  watch this again, and it will be crystal clear. Let's start with a couple of
[01:34.160 --> 01:38.560]  quotes that describe what researchers are concerned about when it comes to
[01:38.560 --> 01:42.840]  Omicron. BBC phrased it particularly well, and I'd like to share that with you.
[01:42.840 --> 01:43.560]  Quote,
[01:43.560 --> 01:48.560]  What worries scientists is the number of mutations affecting the spike protein.
[01:48.560 --> 01:52.760]  That's because most of the leading vaccines target the spike proteins.
[01:52.760 --> 01:59.440]  Vaccines made by Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, J&J, AstraZeneca, and other
[01:59.440 --> 02:05.640]  companies all use just small pieces or genetic sequences of the virus and not
[02:05.640 --> 02:10.160]  the whole virus, and all of them use bits of the spike protein to elicit
[02:10.160 --> 02:15.000]  immunity. So a change in the spike protein that made it less recognizable to
[02:15.000 --> 02:17.760]  the immune system. And BBC quote,
[02:18.120 --> 02:25.520]  For your edification, Omicron has more than 30 mutations just to the spike
[02:25.520 --> 02:29.720]  protein alone. The following is from a World Health Organization technical
[02:29.720 --> 02:33.720]  briefing document on Omicron and states as follows. Quote,
[02:33.720 --> 02:38.280]  Mutation in the spike proteins in the receptor binding domain suggests that
[02:38.280 --> 02:44.880]  Omicron may have a high likelihood of immune escape from antibody mediated
[02:44.880 --> 02:49.400]  protection. End quote. And to be clear, when they say antibody mediated
[02:49.400 --> 02:54.600]  protection, they're really saying is the vaccine induced protection, not prior
[02:54.600 --> 02:58.600]  infection immunity. The following is a public statement made by the World
[02:58.600 --> 02:59.840]  Health Organization. Quote,
[03:09.920 --> 03:14.600]  Close quote. And again, what the part that the World Health Organization in
[03:14.600 --> 03:18.400]  that public statement is not saying is that they're looking especially at
[03:18.400 --> 03:22.080]  Western nations that have a very high level of vaccination. And what they're
[03:22.080 --> 03:25.920]  communicating without actually coming out and saying that is that with Omicron,
[03:26.360 --> 03:32.600]  you may have a populace that's 75% fully vaccinated or 83% fully vaccinated or
[03:32.600 --> 03:39.000]  96% fully vaccinated. And none of those people have any protection against
[03:39.000 --> 03:43.040]  Omicron. This from Dr. Peter English, former chief of the British Medical
[03:43.040 --> 03:46.520]  Association's Public Health Medicine Committee. Quote,
[03:56.680 --> 04:00.680]  the immune system. Close quote. With those quotes, you should have a pretty
[04:00.680 --> 04:04.760]  clear picture now of exactly what the concern is in the research community
[04:04.760 --> 04:08.160]  concerning Omicron. And at this point, I would like to give you an
[04:08.360 --> 04:12.640]  illustrative example, a little math thing, in order to make it more clear in
[04:12.640 --> 04:16.800]  your head exactly what we're talking about. Imagine that there is a thing, it
[04:17.080 --> 04:23.560]  doesn't matter what the thing is. And let's say the first thing has 100
[04:23.720 --> 04:29.880]  identifying particulars about it, then there is another similar thing, and it
[04:29.880 --> 04:39.200]  has 13 identifying particulars about it. If in each of those things, seven of
[04:39.200 --> 04:45.160]  the particulars change, the outcome to each will be different. If we take the
[04:45.160 --> 04:49.240]  thing with 100 identifying particulars, and we say that seven of those
[04:49.280 --> 04:55.080]  identifying particulars changed, then what we end up with is that 7% of the
[04:55.080 --> 05:01.160]  identifying particulars are now different, but 93% of the identifying
[05:01.160 --> 05:05.880]  particulars remain the same. So with 93 of the identifying particulars
[05:05.880 --> 05:10.400]  remaining the same, it probably isn't going to be very hard to identify it as
[05:10.400 --> 05:15.240]  that thing. However, if we take that thing that has 13 identifying
[05:15.240 --> 05:20.120]  particulars and we change seven of its identifying particulars, then where we
[05:20.120 --> 05:26.280]  end up is that 54% of the identifying particulars are now different, and only
[05:26.280 --> 05:31.440]  46% of the identifying particulars remain the same. And as such, it may be
[05:31.440 --> 05:37.040]  much more difficult to identify that newly configured thing as being the
[05:37.040 --> 05:41.560]  original thing. You've probably figured this out on your own already, but the
[05:41.560 --> 05:47.400]  thing with 100 identifying particulars is analogous to the whole anatomy of a
[05:47.400 --> 05:53.160]  virus, and the thing with 13 identifying particulars is analogous to the spike
[05:53.160 --> 05:58.640]  protein. Hopefully now you can understand why substantial mutations in the spike
[05:58.640 --> 06:04.880]  protein of the wild virus may make it impossible for the vaccine induced
[06:04.880 --> 06:10.240]  antibodies to recognize Omicron and act against it. And people who have not been
[06:10.240 --> 06:13.800]  vaccinated prior infection immunity does not suffer from this potential
[06:13.800 --> 06:20.520]  shortcoming. Alpha, Delta, Omicron. It's all the same to your body's prior
[06:20.520 --> 06:24.320]  infection immunity. As you're probably aware, a lot of the rhetoric we're
[06:24.320 --> 06:30.360]  hearing about Omicron is political. It's the media trying to yet again gin up
[06:30.360 --> 06:36.840]  more fear. So I wanted to take a quick look at President Joe Biden's response
[06:37.040 --> 06:43.480]  when he was asked about Omicron. And he said, quote, go get your booster. If it
[06:43.480 --> 06:51.600]  turns out that Omicron can evade vaccine induced protection, of what value would
[06:51.600 --> 06:57.280]  yet another shot of something that Omicron can evade, how would that help?
[06:57.280 --> 07:02.480]  But of course, Joe Biden, whether you love him, whether you hate him, the reality is
[07:02.480 --> 07:06.120]  he wouldn't recognize science if it bit him in the ass. He's simply repeating
[07:06.440 --> 07:10.640]  what he was told to say before he got up there. So why would he or the people
[07:10.640 --> 07:16.200]  telling him what to say, advocate more of what it looks like may well be
[07:16.240 --> 07:25.000]  ineffective against Omicron? I'll just put this out there. If 80% of those who
[07:25.000 --> 07:30.040]  have been vaccinated in the United States choose to get a third shot, that
[07:30.040 --> 07:38.600]  will put an additional $3.6 billion in Pfizer's pocket without regard to
[07:38.600 --> 07:42.680]  whether it does anything concerning Omicron. Again, I want to mention if
