[01:57.040 --> 02:02.000] Gout is a painful, inflammatory condition resulting from uric acid crystals lodging [02:02.000 --> 02:03.820] in certain joints in the body. [02:03.820 --> 02:08.000] The condition is the result of persistent high uric acid levels in the blood. [02:08.000 --> 02:12.520] The core issue creating that problem isn't actually too much uric acid production. [02:12.520 --> 02:17.980] It is the failure of the body to clear uric acid fast enough, thus resulting in the over-abundance [02:17.980 --> 02:23.340] of circulating uric acid in the blood, which results in the unpleasant symptoms of gout. [02:23.340 --> 02:27.700] If the body of gout sufferers doesn't clear uric acid fast enough, resulting in the problematic [02:27.700 --> 02:32.900] buildup of uric acid, a rational person might consider eating in such a way as to produce [02:32.900 --> 02:36.420] less uric acid, and that would be beneficial. [02:36.420 --> 02:37.500] Indeed it is. [02:37.500 --> 02:41.840] In fact, eating in a manner that does not promote uric acid production is the only way [02:41.840 --> 02:44.900] to reduce painful gout episodes. [02:44.900 --> 02:49.900] The question of how to reduce uric acid production is where we get into trouble. [02:49.900 --> 02:54.780] The medical industry dogma for a hundred years has been to eat less meat. [02:54.780 --> 02:59.800] Some doctors have followed more rigorous scientific studies and no longer suggest that, but those [02:59.800 --> 03:01.700] doctors are a minority. [03:08.300 --> 03:13.380] Not only is that unhealthy in a general sense, but it will not reduce the frequency of gout [03:13.380 --> 03:16.260] episodes or the intensity of the symptoms. [03:16.260 --> 03:20.540] In terms of eating animal meat, chemically speaking, the primary culprit in uric acid [03:20.540 --> 03:23.300] production is a substance called purine. [03:23.300 --> 03:25.780] What animal meats contain high levels of purine? [03:25.780 --> 03:29.980] Oatmeal, which is organ meat, as well as shellfish and anchovies. [03:29.980 --> 03:34.500] If you are a gout sufferer looking for relief, the first half of your solution is to eliminate [03:34.500 --> 03:38.260] the following animal-based foods from your diet. [03:39.100 --> 03:44.940] Organ meat, wild game meat, shellfish, anchovies, herring, mackerel, and scallops. [04:14.180 --> 04:19.700] Other foods with yeast or yeast-like substances in them are black tea, buttermilk, mushrooms, [04:19.700 --> 04:25.100] sour cream, soy sauce, truffles, cheese of all kinds, citric acid, commercially available [04:25.100 --> 04:30.660] citrus fruit juices, dried fruits of all types, fermented beverages, monosodium glucamate, [04:30.660 --> 04:36.500] vinegar of all types, baby cereal, barbecue sauces, ketchup, condiments, chilies and peppers, [04:36.500 --> 04:41.220] salad dressings, horseradish mayonnaise, olives, pickles, sauerkrauts, and tomato sauce. [04:41.220 --> 04:42.220] Wow. [04:42.220 --> 04:45.660] You'll also want to steer clear of melons, peanuts, peanut butter, pistachios, chocolate, [04:45.660 --> 04:49.060] ice cream, citric acid, and distilled spirits. [04:49.060 --> 04:54.340] You may also find it advantageous to forgo asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, mushrooms, [04:54.340 --> 04:57.000] green peas, and dried peas. [04:57.000 --> 05:02.600] If you're a gout sufferer, I bet your doctor never told you the things you just heard. [05:02.600 --> 05:07.080] Because the key to living without consequences of gout is to reduce uric acid production, [05:07.080 --> 05:11.200] my suggestion is to run through that list again, take notes, and stay away from the [05:11.200 --> 05:15.480] food items that elevate your uric acid level from ingesting purine. [05:15.480 --> 05:19.600] Is purine the only substance that causes an increase in uric acid? [05:19.600 --> 05:22.680] No, not by a long shot. [05:22.680 --> 05:29.160] Sugar and industrial sweeteners such as high fructose corn syrup are huge culprits. [05:29.160 --> 05:33.240] Unsurprisingly, tracking right along with sugar and high fructose corn syrup is the [05:33.240 --> 05:39.860] fact that one of the major predictors of gout is metabolic dysfunction, things like obesity [05:39.860 --> 05:41.640] and type 2 diabetes. [06:21.280 --> 06:25.160] When you get that unexplained pain in the upper right quadrant of your abdomen, go [06:25.160 --> 06:31.120] to the doctor and he or she tells you you have gallstones, that's when you'll receive [06:31.120 --> 06:34.140] the profit-driven dogma. [06:34.140 --> 06:38.320] Your general practitioner will tell you that if you have one gallbladder attack, you're [06:38.320 --> 06:39.680] likely to have more. [06:39.680 --> 06:44.000] And as far as that goes, it's true, because no one in the medical industry will tell you [06:44.000 --> 06:46.960] how to stop getting gallstones. [06:46.960 --> 06:50.800] Your general practitioner will then likely refer you to a gastroenterologist. [06:50.800 --> 06:56.560] The gastroenterologist will tell you the only real treatment for gallstones is to remove [06:56.560 --> 06:57.560] your gallbladder. [06:57.560 --> 07:02.320] I want to direct your attention to the fact that while your general practitioner and gastroenterologist [07:02.320 --> 07:07.440] have never discussed with you how to stop getting gallstones, they've moved immediately [07:07.440 --> 07:10.440] to removing an organ you need. [07:10.440 --> 07:14.040] Let me share some language with you from a report from the National Institutes of Health [07:14.040 --> 07:15.560] concerning gallstones. [07:16.560 --> 07:22.560] The usual treatment for gallstones is surgery to remove the gallbladder. [07:22.560 --> 07:27.500] And this, the gallbladder is not an essential organ, which means a person can live normally [07:27.500 --> 07:30.480] without a gallbladder. [07:30.480 --> 07:35.880] As you can see, the view of the medical industry is that even though the gallbladder performs [07:35.880 --> 07:40.680] what I view as essential functions, and your doctor won't discuss with you dietary changes [07:40.680 --> 07:45.240] that will prevent future gallstones, they will push you to remove an organ of your body [07:45.240 --> 07:51.120] for no better reason than quote, you can live normally without it. [07:51.120 --> 07:54.220] And I should tell you, the claim that you will live a normal life without a gallbladder [07:54.220 --> 07:56.720] is a straight up lie. [07:56.720 --> 08:00.520] The overwhelming percentage of people who've had their gallbladder removed end up having [08:00.520 --> 08:04.760] to restrict themselves from eating certain kinds of foods because of the havoc doing [08:04.760 --> 08:07.060] so wreaks on their gut. [08:07.100 --> 08:10.860] Before I demonstrate how crucial I believe the gallbladder is, let's revisit what the [08:10.860 --> 08:15.100] National Institutes of Health said, which is that the usual treatment for gallstones [08:15.100 --> 08:21.140] is surgery to remove the gallbladder because it is a non-essential organ. [08:21.140 --> 08:24.660] But is the position of the National Institutes of Health, which is the de facto position [08:24.660 --> 08:29.220] of the entire medical industry, realistic or even rational? [08:29.220 --> 08:30.900] Are you ready? [08:30.900 --> 08:36.420] A meta-analysis of 18 studies concluded that removal of the gallbladder has a harmful effect [08:36.420 --> 08:39.260] on the risk of colon cancer. [08:39.260 --> 08:45.620] And in case you didn't know, being diagnosed with colon cancer is essentially a death sentence. [08:45.620 --> 08:49.340] Another study reported a significant increase in total cancer risk, including increases [08:49.340 --> 08:51.860] in several other types of cancers. [08:51.860 --> 08:57.260] So while the Hippocratic oath doctors take varies a bit from institution to institution, [08:57.260 --> 09:02.700] one constant is that doctors swear to do no harm. [09:02.700 --> 09:06.340] Yet when it comes to gallstones and your gallbladder, they don't tell you how to prevent gall [09:06.340 --> 09:10.700] stones from recurring while advocating a course of action that science informs us [09:10.700 --> 09:18.260] increases a patient's overall risk of cancer with an emphasis on deadly colon cancer. [09:18.260 --> 09:22.260] That's an odd interpretation of do no harm. [09:22.260 --> 09:25.980] I might be inclined to give the medical industry the benefit of the doubt if there was simply [09:25.980 --> 09:30.160] no way to prevent the recurrence of gallstones, but there is. [09:30.160 --> 09:32.100] They just won't tell you about it. [09:32.100 --> 09:35.900] That's understandable within the construct of how the medical industry works. [09:35.900 --> 09:40.540] The gastroenterologist, anesthesiologist and the hospital make money from surgery to move [09:40.540 --> 09:41.860] your gallbladder. [09:41.860 --> 09:45.740] Then your general practitioner, oncologist and big pharma make a shitload of money from [09:45.740 --> 09:47.180] your cancer. [09:47.180 --> 09:48.820] Everyone wins. [09:48.820 --> 09:50.140] Except you, of course. [09:50.140 --> 09:57.100] The leading cause of gallstones is high carbohydrate consumption, particularly foods with high [09:57.100 --> 09:58.860] glycemic load. [09:58.860 --> 10:01.620] Remember the NIH report from which I quoted earlier? [10:01.620 --> 10:06.260] While they do their best to gloss over the issue of carbohydrate consumption, they admit [10:06.260 --> 10:11.580] that metabolic syndrome, diabetes and insulin resistance increase the risk of gallstones. [10:11.580 --> 10:15.980] And do you know what causes metabolic syndrome, diabetes and insulin resistance? [10:15.980 --> 10:20.780] If you're thinking high carbohydrate consumption, you nailed it. [10:20.780 --> 10:25.940] In short, the most prevalent cause of gallstones, by far, is something completely within your [10:25.940 --> 10:26.940] control. [10:26.940 --> 10:31.540] If you stop eating lots of carbs, carbs with high glycemic load and carbs high on the glycemic [10:31.540 --> 10:35.500] index, your odds of getting gallstones become pretty close to zero. [10:35.500 --> 10:38.940] If your odds of getting gallstones are pretty close to zero, that means your odds of having [10:38.940 --> 10:42.380] your gallbladder removed are also close to zero. [10:42.380 --> 10:48.540] That means you will not increase your odds of getting the deadliest cancer known to mankind. [10:48.540 --> 10:51.900] All you have to do is stop eating carbs. [10:51.900 --> 10:54.140] But they don't tell you that. [10:54.140 --> 10:58.780] I imagine you took note that both gout and gallstones are prevented by not eating a significant [10:58.780 --> 11:00.500] quantity of carbs. [11:00.500 --> 11:04.500] Let me share a comment a gout sufferer placed on my ketosis page about a week ago. [11:04.500 --> 11:06.900] Ash wrote, I have gout. [11:21.280 --> 11:24.740] At the outset, I mentioned I was not going to load this presentation up with a lot of [11:24.740 --> 11:29.300] scientific evidence, but rather suggest if you want to know whether these dietary changes [11:30.060 --> 11:32.020] Apply them and see for yourself.
